Food for Thought: Chick-fil-A's Popularity and the Generational Divide on Activism

Anonymous
Chick-Fil-A is hard to beat for fast casual. The food is great, the price is good, the restaurants are always very clean, the bathrooms are always tidy.

My husband and I (we mid 50s in age) can go there for a quick lunch on a weekday or a weekend when our teen has other things to do. The employees swing by asking if we need a drink top up, more condiments, etc., which makes it feel a bit like an actual sit-down restaurant with servers. We feel pampered, catered to, and the service is always excellent. The employees are always very nice. I have yet to leave a Chick-Fil-A and think "well, that was horrible."

I am not surprised at all to see Chick-Fil-A top the list.

Don't think most kids are activists. Neither were most boomers in the 60s.

It's fried chicken that is consistently good. It's not that deep, not worth a think piece.

same. like i know (well, i hear…i haven’t looked into it) that i shouldn’t use amazon. but i work out of the house, single mom with kids. i have to do what makes my life manageable. sometimes that means ordering from amazon and it definitely means eating cfa on occasion.
-gen x mom with gen z kids (some of whom are lgbtq) and they love it too

Love CFA and their drive thru efficiency! Don’t care about their activism.

CFA calmed down their anti-gay stance a while a ago. Even my gay coworker says their "hate chicken" is delicious.

Pampered? Lol

I do boycot them, but I also think their food is meh. I don't understand the love for it.

I’ve never had it, and I probably never will. I don’t eat a lot of fast food, and I do personally care about my money going to (imo) hateful organizations.
I’m a millennial, not genZ if that matters lol.

I’ve long boycotted them due to the fact that they close on Sundays. Don’t impose your religious beliefs on my fast food!

Why do I crave them on Sundays? Their chicken sandwich is like crack.

I don’t get the love for their food. It’s fine but not good and is basic fast food. Popeyes is much better.
