We might put ours in the pantry- have shelves with plugs for the toaster oven and micro, and folding doors that we can leave open when cooking. Problem is that they take up a lot of pantry space because you need to put clearance around it for safety. |
Why would any SFH need two full ovens? How many people live there? |
I’ll leave my 27 dinner plates & unused French presses (2!) exposed but please hide-away the coffee make we use daily. |
Yet, your picture shows open shelving with plates, bowls, fruit basket, all are out on display except for the coffee maker which is inconveniently kept behind a cabinet door. This is opposite of functional and very cluttered looking. |
In the fanciest kitchen I know, they make toast in a speed oven thing in the wall. I think it’s also a steam oven and can be a regular convection oven/air fryer. |
Not a toaster oven but the best thing I ever did in my kitchen renovation was to have a lower cabinet with 2 slide out shelves. I had an outlet added in the back corner. On the top slide out my large toaster and vitamix stay there plugged in. We open the cabinet, slide out the shelf, use the appliances and it all shuts back down easily with no mess on the counter. Love it!! You could easily put a small toaster oven in there if you wanted…. |
NP. All of the posts insulting this poster’s kitchen. I agree it’s a ridiculous photo and use of space but it’s clearly from a website. |
We just renovated our kitchen and have two appliance garages without fronts, so I guess you’d call them appliance cubbies. One has my Wolf toaster oven (best thing ever), and one has the counter microwave. Works perfectly as they look tidy but are also easily accessible. |
We are low class and just keep the appliances we use every day on the counter. Its a kitchen! Its for preparing food! We also keep toilet paper visible in our bathroom. Its a room for pooping! |
Have you never cooked a Thanksgiving dinner? |
We renovated last year and put one in. I love it. We use our vitamix almost daily for smoothies and now we don’t have to keep schlepping it out, but it also doesn’t junk up the flow of our clutter free counters. |
That only in your head. |
Do you have any example photos? This seems promising but the height/ aesthetic details aren’t clear. Like is the toaster pretty low? |
We have an appliance garage like this one. When it’s closed it just blends in with the cabinets.

Yes. Lets not overthink this. These are fantastic: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hamilton-Beach-Electric-Roaster-Oven-Stainless-Steel-22-Quarts-32215/887224544 And then you don't have the sub-optimal configuration and space use the other 51 weeks of the year. |
