I'm a minimalist. I like things neat and tidy! (text messages)

I have a 14yr old boy who delete everything and it has nothing to do with OCD and everything to do with hiding things from me. I’ve accepted I can’t control everything and by the time 14 rolls around all we can do is try to talk to them and hope 10% sticks.

You know there’s a search feature for texts. You don’t need to scroll through a zillion threads

I am concerned he is hiding something, although he's definitely also deleting texts that are harmless. For example, I checked his sibling's phone and there are lots of mundane texts between them. Conversations with me are also missing.

Is there a way to prevent him from deleting texts, or for me to be able to see his texts? He has an iPhone.

Is this something that other people's kids do? He's a weird kid, so it might just be that.

You are too controlling. Do you ever think that you are the weird one?

Oh, I totally acknowledge that his weirdness comes from me. I am weird too.

I had reason to check his phone. I was concerned before I checked it.

What do you think he is doing? Don't you believe in him having any privacy? You said the brother's texts were innocent.

Anyone who believes your average teen should have cell phone privacy is a pervert.

This. Check his iPad or get an iPad and log into his iCloud there.
