Fentanyl/ Narcan

We have it. Free through Arlington Co. 12yo and 14yo. You never know.

I really don't see any down sides of having it around.

If you administer it in error there are no side effects.

We don't have it but I agree with this.

If someone came to my house and offered it to me, sure I'd take it but I'm not searching it out. Not in the DC Area and it's not really advertised where I am.

It’s one of those things I keep telling myself I need to do and then I always forget when I’m at the pharmacy. My college freshman is coming home for fall break and a couple of weeks so this is a good reminder to pick some up and send some back to school with him.

I keep it in our house. I know neighbors that do, as well, and we all just consider it a basic community service to have it on hand.

I hope to god it is never needed for my MS kid -- we talk about fentanyl every time it is in the news -- or ever any of his friends but kids don't always make the best decisions. He knows about it.

We know a family who just lost their teen son to a fentanyl OD in the DC suburbs. It is happening here and it is very real and deadly.

Did the overdose happen because he thought he was trying another drug (like adderall) that turned out to be laced with fentanyl? What did he think he was taking?

This is also how we acquired ours. I sent both doses off with our college kids this past fall. My DD also reported that they were giving out free narcan during a back-to-campus event.

My oldest is 22 and I'm sad to report that this year alone, he's lost 3 friends to ODs. These are all kids people would look at and say "they were such good kids!"

This is terrifying. Three is a lot for one kid to know!! What did they OD on?

We just lost a family member. We have no idea how they got it. Not a drug user at all.
Came home from night out and died at home. They were alone though. Nobody was there to help.

I recently got Narcan and fentanyl test strips free from Arlington County. The test strips provide peace of mind if you know drugs are going to be around.

We did the training and I sent our kit to college with our teen.

One died from weed laced with Fentanyl. I know another was a heroin OD. I am not sure about the third.

It worries me so much because I'm a teacher and teens and young people these days view weed as being safe.
