Stamps in passport

I am getting my passport renewed after 9.5 years. The documentation says that I will get a new number? Of course, I have to send them my old one. What is returned? Will they send my old stamped passport back, or a brand new "empty" one? Can I pull out the stamped pages before I send it in or is that now allowed?

You get the old one back.

It will come back usually a week after you get the new one.

They sometimes stamp, sometimes don't. I love the stamps too.

My passport is two and half years old and has about 30.
