Gift ideas for the pickiest woman in the world!

OP, just do a search with mid-century modern and textile. Lots of options - scarves, placemats, etc. You've got other good suggestions like the textile museum. Maybe even a coffee table book?

Sometime last year we got together for dinner, she was wearing a fragrance that I absolutely loved on her - it's an obscure one and made here locally where we live. She made a mental note, and bought if for me. What made it so special is she remembered how much I liked it from a year ago, and that I would never splurge on myself for like that because I'm very budget conscious (with myself only).

A gift certificate is like cash except with a required chore.

Go with consumables: wine, chocolate, a book, flowers, a plant is okay, spices are fine, marijuana edibles are good. Cigars. Whatever.

I agree with this. The only “stuff” I would like is maybe a Christmas ornament that has some special meaning to me or to our friendship. Not a $100 ornament! But as a thoughtful thing.

Stationary. Dog treats. Cookies. Candy. A cocktail kit with candied lemons or something and weird bitters or stuff like that. Vodka you infused with something.

When she moved last year she had special stationary made for her, 3 months before she even moved - she is an extreme type A. I am very type B. She does not drink, not sober was just never a drinker. She does have a pup that she adores but she's already showered with dog related items because her pup is an IG influencer. I know, I know.

I am extremely picky- I like puzzle, higher quality soap, and high quality chocolate.

One of those dog royalty portraits from Crown and Paw for the influencer pup maybe? I would find that hilarious and thoughtful because I am obsessed with my dog and it would acknowledge her importance to me (and that it’s a little silly.).

She recently commissioned an IG artist to do a portrait of her dog, but it would also be way outside my budget. We try to stay within the $50-$100 budget with each others gifts.

I want to get her something unique or something she will actually use or appreciate looking at and having in her home.

She's early-50's. I don't want to get her clothing or jewelry because of how specific and difficult her tastes are. She's into fitness, especially yoga and barre. She loves textiles. Her home is mostly MCM. She loves to read, she has a Kindle. She herself hates giving gift cards because she feels it shows little effort, she's not entirely wrong but with someone so picky I feel like that's my only safe option.

Any ideas? Budget is up to $100. I don't mind spending in the upper range of my budget, what's more important to me is that she loves her gift.

Thanks!

Here's a novel idea. JUST ASK HER WHAT SHE WANTS?

Does she read any physical books?

Yes I know I can just do that, but it takes away from the specialness of the gift. I want it to be an unexpected gift.

She LOVES West Elm, and believe it or not she has that particular item. She recently moved and redecorated her entire apartment from front door to back. She has this item at her front door on a table with a few other MCM decorative items.

Or anything with a gift receipt so easily exchangeable.

Great idea! This might be it, very unique. I happen to also love this brand and I know she doesn't have anything from S.M. Novella!
