Senior Year Grades..Do they matter for Admission?

Depends on the school. VA Tech does not get any senior year grades. It says so on the Common App.

Virginia Tech does not require the Mid Year report, but does get the final transcript per Common App (like virtually every college in the US).


True. I was really speaking more to the question of whether they see senior year grades as part of their admissions decisions in response to so many saying definitively that all schools see first semester grades.

Depends on the school and whether you apply ED/EA. Some schools don’t require first semester grades (or first quarter) if you apply early. But, if you are deferred to RD, some schools require the first semester grades then.

I have also seen Pitt require first semester grades from students on the bubble. That is similar to being deferred because they hold your application until those grade come in.

I don’t think it matters as long as it’s not a horrific drop.
