| Yes, I have little kids and although I love going to concerts with DH, our music taste doesn’t always overlap, and it doesn’t make sense to get a babysitter if it’s an artist I love that he is meh about. A lot of my old concert buddies have moved away from the area and/or also have little kids. |

I went to The Cure by myself. My boyfriend couldn’t get a ticket so hung around outside. After the concert, I came out and he had somehow managed to get backstage passes. He took me back and I met Robert Smith.
The other concert I went to gym myself was to see Jeff Buckley at the original 9:30 Club. He died a couple of years later. |
| Yes! Sat next to a nice couple and the guy was thrilled that I danced with his girlfriend all night. Had a great time. |
| I went to a Weeknd concert by myself. Drake showed up. I had a great time! |
| I went to see Baryshnikov dance with his ballet company at Sadler's Wells in London on my own. The ticket was 45 pounds ($60) and this was 20 years ago so about $100 ticket today. I was a single girl not earning much. It was the most amazing thing I ever witnessed and I will never forget it. |

I have gone to lots of concerts alone. I don’t think I would have fun alone on the lawn at Wolf Trap or in a seated venue, but at a place like the 9:30 Club, it is fine.
I used to travel a lot for work and I would go to concerts in the cities I visited. I went to see a concert alone at the 9:30 Club when I was 10 days away from my due date with my 2nd child and my husband was home with our toddler. I’m sure I got some strange looks that night, but I had fun. I listen to a lot of indie rock and I feel like a good portion of the crowd was 40-something guys in band t-shirts and baseball hats when I was 25. Now I’m 45 and I feel like half the crowd is still 40-something dudes. |
How amazing to meet Smith, was he as nice as he was on stage? |
| I’ve gone alone, with romantic partner, with friends, with parents. and now with my teen, and I don’t really see much difference in my enjoyment of the concert itself. I’ve never been a stander/dancer, and it’s too loud to have conversations, so having other people there doesn’t add a lot for me. It’s like movies in that way, just usually with more complicated logistics. |
| I used to live right near the 930 club and did this a lot. Now that I live further from good concert venues, I don't do this much but I totally would. Live music is the best!!! |

I learned to do these things alone when I traveled for business. I would be in these great cities, and usually had a significant amount of free time. Sometimes I would have a friendly coworker to join me but I ended up going lots of places alone (live music, museums, sporting events, theatre...). I kind of miss those days.
No one ever looked at me funny, and I met some interesting people along the way. |
He was nice but mostly I remember thinking he seemed very shy and tired. I could tell he just wanted to get out of there. Surprisingly, there weren’t a lot of people in the room. |

I have been listening to electronic music for nearly 30 years. My spouse sorta likes it, but really doesn't listen to it on their own.
So I will occasionally go to Flash or 930 Club by myself if an artist or DJ is performing that I want to hear/see by myself. If I go to NYC for an event, usually I will go with friends who live there and still attend electronic music events. |

Only once b/c someone handed me two tix to go see Lyle Lovett in 30 minutes at a very small venue in santa fe nm. So i went. It was before cell phones so i couldn't text anyone.
the seat next to me was the only empty seat in the house. I didn't mind. but i have not been solo to a concert since. |

Are people Weird or did iPhones ruin the world
I use to go out by myself maybe 50-100 times a year. Pre iPhone people would just chat. I met Paul Reiser from Mad about you back in 1990 he was killing time between filming his bomb show my two dads. We talked 30 minutes turns out my aunt was his neighbor in NYC. I ran into snoop dog right before his first album he was alone at bar in Hamptons after MTV beach house visit. We talked 20 minutes. Oddly Jimmy Kimmel new show 20 years ago he was guest co host first week I ran into him and he remembered me as that white boy from Hamptons. |
Same. I've made some good friends in other locations while on solo adventures! |
