OP, those are some of my favorites as well. Looking back on my reading from the last year or so, Mad Honey jumps out and I don't think was named yet.
I've long considered Jo Nesbo the best but the last couple have been too stomach-turning for me. Laura Lippman's books are a little shorter but also good. |
Jodi Picoult‘s Mad Honey was disappointing. It gives the reader no idea of what it is until you are way into the book. The story starts out enjoyable, about normal teen relationship. Then the second half is about a girl who is Transgender and how hard her life is. It's like you’re reading a completely different book. |
| The Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett |

+1 for Loise Penny
Also really like the William Kent Krueger series. |
| Keigo Hogashino has some good ones. |

Earlier books by Elizabeth George . Earlier books by Batya Gur.
Another Plus 1 for Louise Penny. |
| I love Dick Francis' mysteries. They usually involve horses, and I especially loved STRAIGHT. |
| I like the Harry Bosch novels, less so, but still enjoyable, are his other series - Renee Ballard, Lincoln Lawyer, Jack McSomething. |
I second this. |
| The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides was a good mystery. I thought the pacing was a little slow at times, but the mystery was excellent. |
| Dervla McTierney is very similar to Tana French. I just finished and enjoyed The Ruin. |
NP. It's one of my favorite books. She has 3 others but none as good The Dry. |
| Have you read the Inspector Lynley series? |
| Has someone recommended Tana French? |
