I hate being a contrarian, but I can't seem to change

The reason the pocket issue even comes up is because almost the entire fashion industry has agreed with you for decades. You’re obviously in the majority, which is why some women get excited when they find clothing with usable pockets.

You’re framing issues in a way that makes you seem like the outsider, but in reality you’re not. Or you might be the outsider in some little group, but not with civilization.

The snake thing-why would you want to give up (what I would consider) a moral code to disagree with someone and justify taking life and hurting the local ecosystem? You don’t need to agree with everyone you come in contact with. You just need to be able to live/work/exist near them without fighting with them constantly. It’s okay not to agree, and you don’t need to change anyone’s minds. Saying you have a different preference isn’t arguing. Putting down someone else choice is obnoxious and could lead to arguing. For the neighbors, I think you’re definitely right and they’re doing a terrible thing, but there’s nothing you can do to stop them, so you should probably stop discussing the issue with them. It’s only going to lead to more frustration. The answer isn’t for you to start enjoying snake hunting, it’s for you not to dwell on issues that you have no control over.

OP, I cannot diagnose if you are mentally ill but you surely sound trying to be around. Do you have many friends? A life partner? Children? What do they think?

P.S. I LOVE POCKETS! ESPECIALLY IN DRESSES!

I don't have friends. A spouse and children, yes.

And see? It's just hurtful that no one can see where I'm coming from. It makes me feel worthless and weird. I hate being different from everyone else.

NP. Then go see a therapist. Because something is actually wrong with you, you just seem to want to feel this way. Does it give you some kind of power or make you feel special? Because I know plenty of people who think Snake Lives Matter and who are able to see and argue both sides of any topic. I really don’t get what you don’t get about that. You haven’t said one unique thing that I don’t know plenty of other people who hold the same opinion. You seem to want to think you’re the Only Special Person to Think the Way You Do, so here: here’s a cookie.

You guys are all missing it. Did you even read the title? I don't want to be special. I want to think and believe and act like everyone else.

Well, wish granted! Because again, you haven’t posted a single thought or opinion I haven’t heard from someone else. Just because the three people you happen to be standing with all thinks snakes = gross/get rid of them, doesn’t mean you are the Only Special Snowflake in the world who thinks that.

Post one original thought/opinion. I dare you. I guarantee we all know someone who has that same thought or holds that same opinion.

It’s ok if people have different opinions, including yourself.

And you can’t control what other people think or do.

Then just agree when someone says something. Easy.

Why am I not coming across them in my life, then?

Because you’re hellbent on believing you’re separate from everyone else. You’ve already decided this is how it is, so that’s all you can see.

I don’t know, it seems like you want to be a perpetual victim and whiner more than you want to relate to others.

Because people probably avoid you. You are highly annoying and attention seeking.

This is exactly OPs problem. She's probably come across people who have similar thoughts as her but she's so desperate to be a victim she tunes them out.

I'm shocked you're married with a kid. Does your kid have friends?
