To me “old fashioned” phrases are normal. It’s the more vulgar words thrown around these days that are not. I don’t swear in English, and only sparingly in my native language, and I expect my kids to be creative with language so they avoid looking like every other boring F-bombing critter out there.

My mom uses phrases from Regency novels like "don't refine too much upon it" and then wonders why my husband looks puzzled!

DH keeps saying "My bad!" which is already outdated in my mind.

I say "Cool!" a bit too often.

my dad would say "oh sugar!" when he was irritated about something. he never said any bad words. that was my mother's department "you little b@stards"
