| Unfortunately, the HSs are so big and crowded that lockers are not practical -- you wouldn't have time to go to it between classes. It's hard to get to/from classes in passing time anyway. And my kids also complain that most of the lockers are crappy and jam so are not particularly functional. Drives me nuts that all the kids are standing around waiting for buses in freezing weather without coats. Mine wears a balaclava to walk to the bus stop on the really cold days and I keep telling him not to get too close to any woman or she'll think he's a mugger (or worse). |
Yep the times between the classes are way too short and halls too crowded. No time to get stuff in between classes. Very few kids take lockers. |
Juul so they can feel at home in the bathroom? |
Juul is so 2020. |
| If your kid wants to use her locker, she should use her locker. Don't worry about what the other kids do. |
My ds goes outside to the track sometimes w a friend. And carries everything around in his far too heavy backpack. |
|
Mine brings lunch. Uses mostly notebooks and folders unless a teacher requires a binder. Brings everything in a backpack. Has a locker she never uses. Says there isn't enough time. I don't get that because I used mine all the time in the 80s! Oh, well. It's how the roll. My oldest was the same about the locker. Almost never used it (but was at Blair, which is huge).
Welcome!! |

Mine brings Chromebook and charger, cell phone, notebooks and books they need, lunch (usually just a ton of snacks like PB crackers/fruit/biltong/chips/drinks) and also their sports backpack. The sports backpack goes in a dedicated room before school starts though so they're not lugging it around.
Never requested a locker. |
The carrying of sports gear really gets me but my kid does it too. She brings all of the above plus some folders for school paper. Binders are a middle school thing, I think. Most kids bring lunch! |
+1 to two bags. Every kid has their own system for notes and papers. Some have binders with loose leaf. Some put everything into one 5-7 subject notebook. Some have notebooks for some classes but not others. |
