What would you do?

The upgrade wasn't for access to the IFE--that is identical to the IFE in economy. The upgrade was for extra leg room, which OP presumably got.

Yeah, I'm giving serious side-eye to OP's levels of entitlement and expectation.

I never rely on plane entertainment.

You are paying for extra legroom. I wouldn’t even think to complain.

I also never rely on the in-seat entertainment. I love to pack light and not schlep a book or a tablet, but too often it doesn't work. I also don't rely on the plugs to charge my phone, as they often are wobbly and don't stay plugged in.

It sucks but I've never asked for compensation.

I sympathize with you OP. I've flown premium plus to Europe many times and it's an awkward half-upgrade from regular economy for considerably more money. I'd push for more from United, but they may push back because their entertainment system is designed to be available from your personal device through the app, so you could have watched any of the entertainment that way. Good luck!

Honestly, OP, how much do you think the entertainment system is worth?

This. You’re not getting anything. It’s 2023. Everyone brings their own entertainment.

I don’t know many people who bring their own entertainment for international flights. I plan on using the entertainment system every time I fly.

BS. Do you ever look around on the plane? Everyone has a device. You must have a very small circle.

Not everyone wants to watch the crappy airline movies. So much better content elsewhere

I am surprised by everyone's attitude. Airlines charge for everything they could come up with, and as a customer I want them to be accountable for everything they did not provide.

BWHAHAHAHAH.

Oh you're serious. Have you been living under a rock for the past few years? Airlines are a $hitshow right now. You're luck you made it home as planned. Count yourself lucky.

So let them continue their $hitshow without complaint? Yes, that's the right response...

I know this but it does not mean we, customers, should accept it. Airlines are treating us as cattle for loads of our money, I don't think we need to shut up and be thankful for flying at all.
