| Do y'all wash your filthy hands before eating the filthy fast food? |
Ha! This reminds me…. I was in Mexico City several years ago, which has incredible street food, as you may know. I had to keep telling myself to forget about the bare hands touching my tacos….over and over and over again. Yes, everything was all delicious, and I did not get sick, thankfully. Still, though…. I was a bit uncomfortable. [OP] |
I can see being a but uncomfortable. I actually spent several years in Mexico City which probably contributed to my laissez faire attitude; you've got to get over it quickly if you want to enjoy all that delicious street food! |
| Yes but I don’t want to make my own food so I deal with it. |
| I don't like if they handle money / cash register with gloves on. If it's food stuff I guess I don't care if they don't change their gloves. I don't have allergies. |
| I do not care in the least. The gloves seem to be a relatively new thing anyway, no? In years past, people just assembled your order and handed you the meal. You just hoped that they truly washed their hands after using the restroom, right? |
| Yes that's discusting. They need to change their gloves. Say something like "please put a fresh pair of gloves on." |
+2 I wish there was a bigger push among Starbucks employees to make them stop doing this ^^ Maybe they need to watch a better food safety and proper handling training video or training. |
I worked at Subway back in HS in the 90s and we wore gloves back then. |
| People have been preparing and serving food for millennia without gloves. If the individual washes their hands and the various equipment has been properly sanitized nothing untoward should occur. The idea that covering hands with plastic somehow creates a magic talisman against contagion is simply ridiculous. I do think money handling needs to be separated from food handling, and that food handlers need to keep their hands away from their bodies. |
I worked at Burger King and Taco Bell, and we did not wear gloves. Of course, I didn't touch the hot meat with my bare hands, only the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc. |
| Yes, I see them do this at the Deli in grocery stores. They will mop, pickup things, carry packages, and then try to cut your deli meat. I’ve had to chuck a bag aside after I saw this and then thought better about it. |
+1. I generally think that people that are this neurotic about this stuff should just never eat out. They are so concerned about this stuff, but don't realize how stupid it is when you have NO idea how everything is being handled, prepared, and stored out of your sight. Honestly, if you are this germ phobic just eat at home. You have no idea of what goes on in the kitchen, and you really don't want to if this is how you feel...... |
This. |
Honestly! You complain about how a barista handles your coffee cup or the poor schlub who works all day at Subway makes your sub? It's pretty freaking easy to make coffee and sandwiches. Also a lot cheaper AND you get to make sure you change your gloves between every step. |
