Wow. We can walk to Cardinal and Swanson. Got rezoned to tuckahoe and now getting rezoned to Williamsburg. Ridiculous

I found you also need to see the planning units to understand the maps in Appendix H. Here is the link:

We live three minutes from DHMS (walking) and they are going to bus my child to WMS.

Why can't they just move Montessori middle school to Williamsburg? They're already being bused.

Map 3 has most of Taylor going WMS.

Map 4 splits Taylor in half WMS and DMHS

Why does proposed shaded boundaries change from 3 to 4??

But in all cases a HUGE portion of walkable DHMS are bused to WMS.

And splitting an elementary school — I thought they wanted to stop that.

I kind of wonder this too. I actually think for Montessori it would (education philosophy wise) make sense make it K-8 but I don't know if that would be possible to fit in at the ACC site.

I've heard nothing good about it. No thanks.

I have a rising 5th grader and we will be rezoned to a different school if this passes. Does that mean she has to switch after 6th grade?

Walkable is never going to be the primary factor APS uses in boundaries. It’s impossible to do so. Some of you won’t get to walk.

For the Hamm people complaining, what is your proposal to fill Williamsburg then? Who should get bused over there? Not your children. We’ve got that.

It still makes no sense that homes one block away within view of Hamm Middle School itself would be bussed to Williamsburg.

Restore the “Rosslyn Island.” The Rosslyn students in high density housing were zoned to Williamsburg up until 2019 or so when the boundaries last changed. No one except APS staff complained about it since it looked “weird.”

It contributed to socio-economic diversity and also helped fill the school since Williamsburg is in an area of low density single family homes.

Map 4 shows no immersion move, just boundary changes

Rosslyn families complained. But I guess they shouldn’t have a voice.
