Is Karen considered a racial slur?

Because some people feel entitled to continue their bad behavior.

+1. This is an awful slur that is for some reason tolerated. I appreciate that teacher shutting it down.

This is a bit dramatic, and honestly exactly the reason people use it to describe a certain kind of person. It's on the level of calling someone a busy body. Calling it a slur is disrespectful to the experience of people who actually get slurs lobbed at them, and is typical centering behavior of exactly the kind of person who gets called a Karen.

I view “Karen” as a way to silence women. Particularly middle aged, white women. So maybe you don’t think it’s a slur, but I do.

Not many people want to hear entitled, aggressive opinions coming from anyone.

If you're hearing Karen then maybe reflect on the comments you're making.

Thank you for sharing your entitled, aggressive opinion. What name do you like to be called?

+1 Perfectly stated. Thank you.

+2

If someone feels that way about a word, then how they feel is true - it is not up to your deciphering a wrod (a word which can not, by definition, apply to you). You don't get to say what other people are offended by, just like white people don't get to dictate how the N word is used, on the basketball court.

Exactly.

It's about your behavior. Not your skin color or genitalia.

It's a discussion that we are all choosing to join. We're all "entitled" to share our opinion.

Not even misdemeanors vigilante but infraction vigilantes. They call out minorities for the slightest infraction (like grilling in a park during restricted hours). It’s ridiculous. Karen behavior deserves ridicule.

Because some people feel entitled to continue their bad behavior.

So in your mind it is always used appropriately and correctly? Really?

Where did the PP say she didn't like being called Karen? That was a ASSumption made by the entitled, aggressive responder.

Not 100% but every time I've heard it used it was appropriate.

You do know that stringing words together doesn't mean you're actually saying anything, right?

So you missed the nurse biker trying to rent a bike being called a Karen? You're full of it.

Yes. I don't sit around looking for reasons to play the victim, knowing full well I'm not.
