Um, we are humans, not animals. We have brains that can be used to make decisions about our behavior and the effect we have on other creatures. Animals also can't drive themselves to the grocery store to buy an alternative. We can. Your arguments are absurd. If we can avoid the suffering of another living creature, then we should. |

I love meat and I love cows and I eat vegetables and I love processed junk food.
Big fan of lab meat if it's relatively in line with Beyond Burgers. Not so happy if requires a lot of fetal bovine blood serum. |
You aren't fooling anyone. Everyone knows you didn't care a whit about chickens going extinct until you saw it as a dumb excuse to rail against vegetarism. Eating every species a ridiculous "solution" to the problem of extinction. Do you consume every plant and animal you can in order to support conservation? |
Where have you ever had a good veggie burger? Burgers are for eating a big ol meat patty without getting your fingers saucy. If you don't want a burger, why are you having a burger? |
Well, why don't you get started on that, and report back in 3 years to let us know how it's going. |
Because they taste good and are really filling? |
Factory farming is not ok. Whether you think we need meat or not. The way we treat animals for food is what’s wrong with this country. |
You probably need to read a book. Or something.
|
Nothing about the word "burger"indicates a cow being slaughtered for your lunch. A burger can be a patty of anything. And, it can be a patty without anything dying. |
| Fake meat is fake food. Much of it is still high in saturated fat. I would much rather eat rice and beans or a vegetable stir fry than fake food. |
|
Nope. I eat real meat, but I don't want to encourage overly processed foods. Hard pass on the fake meat. Honestly this fake meat stuff is ridiculous. If you want to consume less meat, for health or ethical reasons, as all of us omnivores should be doing, then just eat less meat. The very act of processing makes food less nutritious and more problematic (see recent studies about processed foods linked to dementia and cancers). And reduce your processed food consumption, while you're at it. |

I’m probably the target audience in that I am an environmentalist who likes meat. But I am too grossed out by the fake meat to eat it. I’d rather have a veggie burger or lentil tacos or something real. I keep wanting to try the impossible stuff but I gag thinking about it. I don’t know why it grosses me out so much when I’m fine eating a dead animal.
Also I agree with PPs that I prefer a decent veggie burger over a bad beef burger. I ate mostly veggie burgers in college because the quality of the meat was so bad in the cafeteria. My mom took me out for steak every time I came home. |
