Have you spotted Jon Hamm yet? His first tv role was in this show.

Psst: being thin doesn't equate to having an eating disorder.

Psst, I am a size zero and have never seen someone look like this who didn't have an eating disorder or who was seriously ill. Come to have it, these women DID have eating disorders.

Calista Flockhart has said that she had an eating disorder, it is well-documented. Thanks for your input though

Jane Krakowski isn’t thin.

But Ally McBeal is. I couldn't watch because i didn't want my teenage daughters thinking that was normal

So... overweight is "normal," but underweight is abnormal. Got it.

Calista Flockhart, Portia di Rossi, and Courtney Thorne-Smith have all revealed that they suffered from seriously disordered eating while on the show. So in the cases of these actors, yes, underweight is abnormal.

+1

Calista looked like a bobblehead. Suspect not much has changed.

I went to high school with her. She was super thin even before Ally McBeal.

I saw her a few months ago in New York. She is TINY in person; tall but anorexic looking thin. It was so painful. She was doing a junket for her Apple TV show in my hotel. She's very pretty in person but painfully thin. She was with Dove Cameron who is also super thin and they were almost the same size (and Dove Cameron has a well documented eating disordered past).

yes! love this show.

Sally Field plays Calista Flockhart's mother. The father dies early in the series. It's set in beautiful Ojai, CA.

Same. And I was in law school when AB came out - and I met the creator at a meet and greet. He is much more handsome without the beard (if you are reading this DEK).

Also in law school when this show came out. I guess we’re all the same age.

Same. But since he doesn't show until Season 4, I probably won't re-watch from Season 1.

I watched most of it and the first couple seasons were much better IIRC.

Harrison Ford is not tiny??

I feel like LA Law bamboozled a lot of us into thinking the law would be an exciting career choice.

I’m the poster who posted this. Um, he’s TINY! I was 5”8’ in my heyday (woman) and I’m prob 5”7’ now. I’m slim and fit. He was shorter and smaller overall than me. Remember, he’s 80. Both my 80 year old parents are tiny now too.

One of the attorneys in my old office often wore really short, tight, miniskirts. Behind her back, other attorneys called her Ally McBeal.

Do they look good in person? in their recent red carpet photos for Indiana Jones where Calista wore the same skirt as she did 20 years ago, looking at the side by side photos I thought thought WOW those two have the absolute best plastic surgeons because they look fabulous. Or maybe it's photoshop?

Yes!!! I rewatched it during Covid on YouTube. Brought back so many memories. Show was way further ahead of the times than I remembered on stuff like gay bashing or body shaming, but not in a contrived, preachy, or cliche way. Great show!!!
