600 in math (Algebra I) and 502 in English. VERY surprising and she has been milking it! |
Where did you see the SOL scores? Are they on SIS? |
She told me and since I didn’t see it on ParentVue I reached out to the school to confirm (we are dealing with some unrelated trust issues atm, that is the reason why I felt the need to confirm with the school). I was also informed that the teachers tell the kids their results, but the info is sent to parents during summer. |
Huh. DD has finals (today, actually) that is totally separate from the SOLs. It counts for more than unit tests - 20% of the grade, IIRC. |
It doesn't count towards grade. PP's teacher/admin entered wrong. |
Keep in mind that this forum is open for discussion of AAP and similar programs elsewhere, so PP may not be in FCPS's AAP but another district in VA. They're not all uniform. Some allow substitution of a passing or advanced grade for the final exam. I find it good if FCPS indeed requires students to take a 20% final exam on top of the SOL; it's good college prep. How is the breakdown of the rest of grade in terms of tests, quizzes, homework, etc.? Can students earn extra credit on their final exams in the honor course as described here for Annandale HS? Is the final exam easier or harder than the SOL? |
