My 7th grader took Algebra honors this semester. His GPA is A but SOL only 567. I used to get 600 or close to 600 for both math and English and he does homework at home. This year, he said he finished all homework at school because I never studied at home. I wonder if he needs to spend more time to study to improve or 567 is a good score for AAP kids. I don't intend to annoy anyone with my question. I just feel a little bit disappointed with his score. Thanks. |

You seriously need to get a grip and calm down. You're going to mess up your kid. |
I expect Pass Advanced from my AAP kid. Anything above 500 would be fine with me. |
Where did you find the SOL score? Is it under Test History? |
A 567 means he missed one question.

Clearly the kid needs to study more because missing a question is NOT acceptable. What is FCPS coming to? |
Thanks! My son usually got 600 in math SOL and he got 570 this time. I thought he must have missed quite a few questions. It is good to know that is not true. |
Not OP….for my kiddo it is in the grade book of SIS as an ungraded assignment but not yet in test history. My kiddo got a 542 on his algebra 1 SOL last year in 7th grade and a 570 on his geometry SOL in 8th grade. He does not have an A in geometry though he got an A in algebra 1. I am not surprised he has mastered the material. His ADHD means he is not the best about turning in work. |
My 6th grader scored a straight 600 in the Algebra SOL ![]() |
My 9th grader got a 446 and we’re so proud of him. He has always struggled with math and he thinks he’s stupid. |
Everyone has their own strengths. Let him know he is not stupid |
I am impressed! What school is she or what high school will she be at? Did she take math classes outside the school or she just learns math quickly? Thanks. |
She's at one of the RoVA schools that will be listed as "<" in next year's VDoE SOL statistics because of the small number of test takers. And yes, she is quick, but public schools failed her in K5 math, requiring us to compensate. We're glad though that she's now on a track where the difference between what she should be doing and what is being done in school isn't as large anymore. |
Does that continue. Like 3 missed questions is 500? |
