Cutting back on exercise?

I’m also in my early 40s and alcohol also hates me. I used to drink every night no problem. Now I have one drink once or twice a week (and never wine, which I used to love) because it makes me feel so awful. I also work in a very social field. Club soda and lime is my best friend at work events.

Alcohol metabolism absolutely changes as people age. Also, most people drink way more than they realize, so their 1-2 drinks is more like 3-4 and that’s a lot to drink daily, repeatedly.

If people say, “not drinking today?” You respond, “yup, not today!” Smile and move on. It’s not their business. There are lots of ways to say no.

How old are you? I'm curious because I used to drink that amount with zero issues and now that amount would wreck me. I'm wondering what is going on that so many women hit their 40s and can't tolerate it anymore.

I’m 46 - meant to include that in my post!

Alcohol metabolism changes with age. 40s seems early but there are likely other factors that may play a role (stress, sleep, perimenopause, etc). I don’t drink on an empty stomach and generally am well-hydrated. Who knows if that makes a difference?
