Dog will only eat ice cream

OP here because an update was requested. The dog is eating again and is not on the verge of death. The vet said he’ll probably live a few more years. He had a sebaceous adenoma close to his lip which became infected. Vet drained it and he is on light antibiotics but is back to eating.

Soak kibble in water or bone broth.

+1 And try hand feeding pureed rice, green beans and a little chicken.

Mine hung on for Chik-Fil-a nuggets.

He was my first dog, and my sister and I got him from a rescue in Richmond because the Alexandria shelter wouldn’t adopt a dog to to young single women. On the drive home, we stopped at Chik-Fil-a and shared our nuggets with him.

When he was dying a dozen years (plus husbands and kids and houses, because, shockingly, I kept my dog through the life changes the shelter identified when they denied me) later, I bought him a catering tray, and he ate exclusively nuggets for his last week.

I loved that dog.
