Back in the early 2000's when I was applying to college, I looked into going to a French university (one of my parents is French). You had to have 2 year of undergrad in a US college to enter 1st year French uni or the IB. And not just an IB certificate but a certain score on the IB exams which varied from school to school. Now another option (aside from Lycee Rochambeau) is through the Saturday French school in Bethesda. They have worked with the Ministry of Education to provide a path from American 12th grade to 1st year French uni. I believe it's a combination of an entrance exam and a certain number of AP courses. |

+1 My kids also have EU citizenship. When they were younger, there was no residency requirement to attend university in that country at the EU rate. More recently they added a residency requirement. One of my kids has spent a ton of time in the country but would need to either move there for his last 3 years of high school or take 2 pg years there. Because uni admission is done by a standardized test where you rank your choices and they match you, including to a major, it’s too much of a gamble bc my son wants a specific major and university there. We have watched our nieces and nephews go through the process and it’s agonizing at 18 to not qualify for the major you want. |
