Plus size summer uniform for moms

I'm about an 18 and I wear:

Shorts (Old Navy) + linen button up (Boden) or Altheta UPF zip up over a tank

or

loose cotton t-shirt dress.

Thanks, all. I do HATE shorts. Sounds like it’s ok to hate them and stick with dresses.

A woman a few years ago made me feel bad about myself because she said “wow do you have that dress in every color?” It was the old navy t shirt dress and yes, I did. I got rid of them, which was stupid. Because now I’m back to square one!

I’m a size 2 and I wouldn’t wear the shorts posted at the beginning of this thread - because they would make me look twenty pounds heavier than I am. No one should wear shorts like that. Cute dresses all the way.

Im plus, size 18/20.

The Anthro Somerset dress comes in Plus 1x/2x/3x: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/the-somerset-maxi-dress2

I am a pear and hate my legs in shorts so i wear chinos from Talbots; even in the heat of summer they are fine because very light, cotton fabric.

https://www.talbots.com/perfect-chinos/P224016472.html

They also have chino shorts in various lengths/colors:

For going out i plan to buy to try this skirt. The 18 should fit me given the cut; I am a bit outraged it doesnt come in plus: https://www.talbots.com/poplin-fit-and-flare-skirt/P232018265.html

I haven’t been able to shop at Anthro in years.

PPs, stop being rude, I’m trying to lose weight.

Anthro has plus sizes, you’re a 14-16 you can shop there

14-16 isn't plus size. Plus size is 18 and up.

Plus is 14 and up it’s just built with extra width. You can find 14 and up in plus and regular depending on the store. Lands End for instance has both.

Barbara Rabininovicci is the girl who said to me, "Didn't you wear that outfit last Tuesday?" in tenth grade which caused me to never wear it again to school, even though it was my favorite outfit (hence my wearing it once a week). But you know what? She was being a beeyotch, and I should have ignored her. As you should have ignored that woman. If you like something and it works, getting it in each color is GENIUS!

When people say obnoxious stuff like that. I dont acknowledge the comment but say in a gentle tone, "please excuse me" and I walk away from the conversation.

Depends. Some people say they're a 14-16 when they mean 14w-16w which is plus size. Either way, all of those sizes can wear XL, XXL or 1x depending on the brand.

I usually wear a cotton mid-length skirt like this (which is no longer available - but I wanted to give you an idea of what I’m talking about):

Those shorts are too short.

I am a size 8 and if I like something, I get it in every color. I don’t care what people think. I’m sorry you were hurt.
Clothes today are shapeless and ugly.

Well, it was a shapeless and ugly t shirt dress but it worked for summer!

I'm the Somerset PP and I wasn't being rude - I am a 16/often 18 and the XL of that dress fits me. And as I think has been pointed out, pretty sure it comes in plus sizes too.

Very basic cotton dress for sweaty outings/playground: https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=880308032&vid=1&&searchText=Tshirt%20dress#pdp-page-content

Just got this and love it for dinners out, etc (got it in navy bc I’m not into the floral prints): https://www.hillhousehome.com/products/the-louisa-nap-dress-navy-cotton?variant=40322549252139

I like the first two, but between being tall and busty, dresses like that become minidresses on me. I like the Anthro midi, but it’s frustratingly hard to find dresses that hit me right above the knee.

Agree with another pp that if you want to wear pants or shorts, Talbots chinos is the way to go. Light weight and actually fit people with hips.
