+1 Don't bother, PP. Let OP keep talking themselves into a corner - it is truly amusing and entertaining to watch! |
Have you had students at both? I actually have. Academics are similar. People are deluding themselves if they think a school ranked 44 is so much lower academic quality than a school ranked 22. |
Exactly this. I don’t understand how people think Georgetown is light years ahead of Tulane… |
They are very different (just as PP stated). |
Georgetown also attracts a more intellectual student than Tulane. Your classmates matter. |
Georgetown is a lot closer to Tulane than it is to Yale and Princeton. |
DCUM has a few (?) rapid anti-Tulane posters. I think they envision students that are drunk, hanging off balconies on Bourbon Street 4 nights a week. Grow up. The kids at Tulane are getting into other top 50 schools and are top students. The average ACT of the class of 2026 was 1473 SAT and 33 ACT, so it isn’t like they are idiots. Georgetown is more prestigious and the students have higher admissions stats. But to claim the academics are miles away is crazy. Tulane is great school. Georgetown is a great school. Let your kid decide where they feel the most comfortable. Good luck. |

The recent Tulane grads I know have had problems finding decent jobs outside of the South.
The Georgetown name carries a lot more weight. |
And Georgetown requires scores, all of them. No super scoring and they see every test. |
Tulane is #44. Georgetown fluctuates between #20-23, but would be higher if it was on common app and test optional. Kids don’t apply that have mediocre-low scores. |
| The kids I know that went to Tulane were all very heavy partiers and late bloomers (high school record). |
Ha

That’s a lot of conjecture. Apart from ranking they are not far off stats wise and quality of student body. |
+1 similar experience and actually really confused about some of the reactions to this post |
This is nuts. I work in finance in NY and TU grads are everywhere you want to be. Not easy to get into. So many kids from the northeast. And yes a lot of partying but those that can't hang or are there for only that reason are weeded out quickly first year. |
