I would have loved to have known about tbe principal before my kids started. I would have put my kids in an option school or, at a minimum, known what I was getting into.

didn't she somehow get named principal of the year a few years back? how did that happen?

Yeah, I’m not interested in sending my kid to school to be screamed at.

We’re already considering private due to class sizes and dumbed-down academics in APS. Add a bad principal to the mix…

One actually went back into the classroom. And this year’s left for another school in the MIDDLE OF THE YEAR. A bs explanation was given to staff and no explanation given to parents.

Kids are encouraged not to tell their parents what happened at school?! That is a VERY slippery slope, potentially leading kids to tolerate abusive behavior.

PP here. Sorry, I should have added that that is something I heard maybe third-hand. I believe it because of lots of other factors but you should probably not believe it unless you otherwise get confirmation.

Dunno about the principal but my friend just transferred her daughter to my daughter’s elementary school. Her son is still in Oakridge. She was literally crying when she was telling me how terrible Oakridge is. Rampant bullying. No discipline. Principal who doesn’t care that her child was being bullied. Children watching porn on bus with iPad. She said so much more but that’s what I remember.

PP here. I just remembered her biggest complaint. No teacher for her 3rd grader until December I think or maybe January. Kid learned nothing all semester and barely did any work.
