Assisgned seats for elementary lunch

I'd like to think that I was placed at the table because the teacher thought I was a nice person--but, I don't think that was the reason.

You don't sound like a very nice person.

Have you seen the behavior in the lunchroom-so tired of you complainers.

My kids' ES assigns tables to each class, but they can sit with whomever they want from their class.

This. I do lunch duty and behavior is atrocious. Assigned seats helps a lot. Kids don't have table manners anymore.

I also do lunch duty and the kids are so freaking rude. Instead of politely picking up their tray/trash, they lob it at the garbage can (which I am pushing). Just so rude and disrespectful. Having teachers do lunch duty is demeaning, among other things.

Who should do it then? I wish we could have the parents of the rude children come in and supervise, but that would never happen. Who else can they make do it?

Teachers at my school don't do it thank goodness-they hire people....they all look exhausted by the end. Horrible behaviors in the cafeteria.

Yes. There’s no longer any talking with friends happening in the cafeteria. It’s just noise and chaos. The behavior is outrageous.

A girl told my DD to move from her seat everyday at lunch just because that girl wanted to sit next to DD’s friend, thankfully the seat’s assigned so she can’t force DD to change.

My 1st grader said they had free seating at the beginning of the school year but lost it because kids weren't listening and were getting up and running around during lunch instead of eating and even trying to steal other kids shoes and throw them around the cafeteria. It sucks but it's what has to happen to get order during lunch.

I grew up in FCPS elementary in the 80s/90s and even I remember assigned seats in the cafeteria in elementary. I don't think it was every year, but it was certainly frequent. Usually because we weren't behaving, and it was easier to keep us in line if we weren't sitting next to our best friends.

My kids are in High School now and they had assigned seating in Elementary school. Nothing to do with COVID but more with behavior issues.

My kids hated it too.

Why on earth wouldn't you just say she was learning disabled?

LOL. You know those parents would just stare at their phones the entire time, don't you? That's why their kids are rude in the first place.
