Did anyone get waitlisted at Saint Andrews?

Our daughter is leaving for Madeira next year, so that is an opening for 10th.

When/how will you let St. Andrews know?

They hand out more acceptances than available slots knowing that some people will decline. (Every school does this. They each have an estimate of their “yield” from a given number of acceptances.).

Your declining a spot does not mean the waitlist is going to move at all.

Nah…just like all other schools, there more acceptances than available spots; you declining does not mean they will go to the wait pool.

That can be correct, but it also depends on how many applied and are on waitlist. A few years ago, we declined a spot at SAES and within hours a friend’s child was admitted off the waitlist, so our guess was that they didn’t have that many more applicants they felt were good fits (so accepted or waitlisted) than spots.

The key part of your post, PP, is “a few years ago”.

Likely a coincidence.

For what grades?

8th last year and 9th this year. The admissions process went well too I thought both times. This year we are accepting at a different top 10 DMV area school so f em. We don’t have time to keep playing these waitlisting games.
