Private school bumper stickers

Yes of course my giant white SUV has that

Many parents we know have them for the non-Big 3/Big 5 schools.

I don’t want people seeing the magnet on our car outside our house and targeting us for theft because they assume we are wealthy due to kids in private school. In 2021, we had someone break into our car (with the magnet) in our driveway and I realized it was a risk.

I also don’t want strangers to know where my kids go to school. DH is a CEO who makes a lot of hiring and firing decisions. I don’t need a disgruntled former employee trying to target our family. (The Mansion Murders case in DC still gives me nightmares.)

We don’t advertise the private schools on our cars either for very similar reasons.

+1 I don't do yard signs either.

Same here.

My child likes their school and actually asked us to put on the magnet, next to a magnet for their sport program. Sheesh.

Haha - I do have a giant white SUV. Because it was cheaper but still - I shake my head regularly looking at it.

I've had them on periodically but took them off permanently recently after I started to get anxious about security and not wanting to advertise where my kids go to school. They're not expensive schools, relatively, but most people aren't aware of the differences so they see "private schools" and make assumptions.

Yes. And I'm a non-bumper sticker person who was all public school adamant.

We did private high school. The acceptance letter comes with the car magnet. It was a big deal for my kids to get in and put it on the back of the car.

And, YES---IT helps me find my white SUV in big parking lots where a million others have the same white SUV .

To be fair, white was the only color on the lot when I went to buy my car. First white car ever. I usually was grey and silver...and red in high school and college.

I let anyone with the same car magnet cut in front of me in traffic.

A big reason we sent our kids to private school was the sense of community and it still makes the kid smile when they see a car driving around with a bumper magnet from their school. I have a magnet from my home state too and my college (which is not elite). I like the community feel. But I wear T shirts/sweatshirts from my college as well from time to time.

Driving cross country or up to NH we often will see the magnet and always look to see if we know them.

Maybe you've seen my driving back and forth to NASA Goddard.

Same here.

Many of us have trouble distinguishing our cars from other parents’ cars. Waiting for stats other than Niche - at least we can have 2 variants then.

I would never drive cross country but yes, I look for the magnets when we are at our second home on the Vineyard

In my city, I saw a car with a bumper sticker for a local (to myself) $35,000/year k-8 school parked on a street of extremely run-down duplexes.

Your point?

Used to work at Holton and had the sticker on my car because I had to do weird merging and left turns from 495 onto on River Road and thought it would help other Holton families let me in to the flow of traffic. Even non Holton families would see I wouldn’t be in front of them too long if they let me merge.
