I'm a fit 40 and I can't stand Chicco's. From what's in the window alone---I could never bring myself to go in. It looks like what my old Aunt and MIL wear.

I shop at Banana Republic and JCrew--some Gap outlet...a little Zara for spice. H&M selectively---a lot of it is too young for my age.

Both my mother and mother in law love Chico's - they're in their late 50s and early 60s. Both were horrified when my brother in law referred to it as the "middle aged Gap" a few years ago. It's not my taste, but not all of it is horrible - I think it's the really embellished/strong print things that are inspiring such ire on DCUM.
