I hate using a gas stove after induction, but our power goes out so often that's been the only gas stove plus so far.. |
Gas for life. Never gonna happen. |
This is in unventilated spaces. I have induction, but I do think that people can swap out their gas gradually- during a renovation, etc. It should not be rip it out for the sake of ripping it out! Our last house had asbestos tile (covered and in good shape--we were told not to mess with that). If we want to worry about health, our attentions would be much better spent trying to figure out which seed oils or high fructose corn syrups are damaging us. I'd like to get to the definititve bottom of that, please. without hype or drama |
If cooking on gas stoves is wrong … I don’t want to be right. ![]() |
We are planning a renovation now, and are planning to go from a gas stove, to a gas stove. Never going to switch, sorry, not sorry |
OP, such a first world problem and point of view. You realize that the majority of the country can't just whimsically switch their stove, right? Even going from gas to electric, you have to get someone to cap off the gas line, and you need an electrician to install an appliance outlet in the kitchen, so there are costs beyond just buying a new stove. For the majority of the country, they don't just have a thousand dollars to throw into changing appliances. |
Actually you'd be hard pressed to find someone more liberal than me. Interesting how we jump to these black-and-white assumptions. I know I've been guilty of the same. |
Never gonna happen. |
I believe the law has already been passed in Oregon requiring electric stoves. |
Frankly all cooking is bad. If you are not eating raw food, you are just killing yourself and the environment!!! |

I wouldn't mind switching to induction, but we just bought a place with a brand new gas stove, so we will wait until it craps out (what's the life span, 10 years?) and then rewire the kitchen for electric. I think solar panels will happen before induction stove. |

Amazing how gas wasn't an issue a year ago and now suddenly there's this forced meme trying to shame people for having gas stoves everywhere. You really do have to roll your eyes.
I have gas. It's fine. I had electric in the past. It was ok. Pretty sure consensus among serious cooks is gas stove top and electric oven. If you're worried about environment, remember that your electricity isn't carbon zero either. |
