Ew. I teach K and, while I'm sure I love my kids as much as you loved yours, I don't call them any of those things. I just call them "friends." And yes, there's no doubt that they're crazy about me.
I hate all of what's been mentioned by PPs, especially "threw up in my mouth." That phrase jumped the shark years ago. I also can't stand when people say, for example, that they don't "do" things. As in, "We don't do dairy," "We don't do Safeway," "We don't do DC on the weekends." Use the right verb for your sentence, please.
Also, when people on cooking shows refer to food as "guys." -- "Let's flip these guys over," "Let's get these guys out of the oven." So annoying.
