I'm not a fan of the term "hubby"

Anonymous
I'm not sure exactly why, but it drives me crazy on this board, in person, on facebook, where ever I see or hear it. Is it so difficult to say husband? Don't like wifey either.

Just had to get that out there.

In anticipation of the typical responses on this forum:
No, this is not my biggest problem today or in life.
Yes, I could be spending my time thinking about more important/productive things.
I have a life, so I don't need to get one.

I'm not a big fan of "hubby" either, but I can't say that I hear "wifey" that often...I hear "the Mrs." or "the wife" more often, which always makes me think, "hey, I bet that wife has an actual name."

I occasionally call my husband "huz," but never in public/in print (except for right now, obviously).

i actually don't like that term either, but it just slipped out of my mouth this week in conversation. what's happening to me?

Agree, and would include referring to children as "kiddos."

You're not alone, OP. "Hubby" makes me cringe, almost-- but not quite-- as bad as "preggo" "pregs" and "preggers".

Oddly, I don't mind yummy and tummy.

I hate Hubby, Tummy and Yummy. Makes me throw up in my mouth a bit each time I hear them

OP here - I find these reponses very interesting. Hubby makes me crazy, but I am guilty of using preggers and kiddos.

Tummy and yummy? Never thought of those as annoying. Who knew?

Another preggers hater. Can't stand it!

what about Yumers! A friend referred to my baby as "Yummers" and I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth

Hate the word hubby. Especially when my MIL uses it to refer to my DH - i.e., her own son. Ick.

i think you're all just too picky.
i'm preggers, i love my hubby and I can't wait to take my kiddo to walmart on a leash.

LOL

I hate hubster, too.

I only refer to hot male colleagues as "yummy" - but only to close colleagues who are also pals.

Hubby is one of my least favorite words. Preggers is right up there. (Same with Preggo).

I don't mind kiddo so much, in fact I don't mind it at all.

Tummy is annoying but I don't mind when it is used around a child (does your tummy hurt?). I say yum as opposed to yummy but don't find yummy that annoying. I used to hate the word cozy, but I'm okay with it now.

I'm glad you started this thread OP. I really, really, hate the word hubby, and I feel better just getting all of this out there, in the open.

Another vote against "hubby." And, since we're at it, "threw up a little in my mouth" should really be retired also.
