I did not "state he's gay." I said that there have been rumors about that, in print, for many years, and I am surprised when someone says they've never once run across those rumors. That is not the same as saying he iIS gay. Comprehension skills would help you out here.

Occurs to me just now: What are the chances he's either got a big, serious movie role coming out soon, or he is trying to get some director or studio head to agree to some serious project he hopes to do? He has some pull and thanks to certain roles (and the fact Scorcese loves his acting), I think he's taken seriously as an actor already. But maybe he's feeling like his romantic rep could hurt him, as he gets older, and he's trying to appear even more serious in order to get some project off the ground. Just speculating.
