This was exactly how my ectopic went. First beta at 14dp5dt was 85, and number doubled appropriately but remained VERY low. RE suspected ectopic almost immediately, scan at 5w5d confirmed no intrauterine pregnancy, and I ended up with a series of methotrexate shots to resolve.
Push for an ultrasound as soon as your RE feels is reasonable, OP. If it is ectopic, you want to know that immediately so you have options. |
Thank you. I actually had a radiology ultrasound done yesterday but they couldn’t see anything anywhere - not all that surprising, it’s early. After today they told me to come back in a week (at which point I will be 6 weeks) for an ultrasound - does that sound reasonable or should I be pushing to get back in sooner (…and if so, when?) |
Are you working with an RE, OP? Talk to your RE. Mine wanted me to do an ultrasound after my beta reached a certain threshold (been a few years and I don't remember exactly what that number was), which occurred prior to 6w. He sad that, at that beta number, something should be visible if it was indeed an intrauterine pregnancy. For me, that was 5w5d. I received my first methotrexate shot at the same appointment (ultrasound was done in RE's office...this was with SG). |
I am with CNY Fertility. Which has overall been positive (and I chose them - obviously - for budget reasons), but the downside is you never get to talk directly to the doctor…you can’t even call the office directly. I can message the nurses (as a group), but it’s never the same person who responds and they all sort of tell you different things. In short, it’s definitely an office where I need to make sure I stay on top of things myself and self-advocate as needed. After my third beta they weren’t planning to bring me in for another week and a half, but after reading all the responses on here I got very nervous and asked to come in yesterday to have another beta measurement as a data point, since I’m now very concerned about ectopic. I’m just trying to check their work, if you will…which is necessary. Thanks - I will stick with the plan of going back in a week and will just know to immediately go to the ER if I have pain |
I think they want it to be 2000 |
| Thinking of you OP and hoping for the best! |
| Hi all, OP here. I promise I’ll only do this once but I always hate when I google things and find a thread and then there’s no resolution. So, dropping in to provide a happy update: things are looking good! I’m 13 weeks, just got normal/low risk NIPT results and my NT scan today was normal. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice / best wishes - sending the same to all of you |
| Wow very crazy given the rise to 50 two days after the 43 reading - congratulations!!! |
| Hooray! Thank you for sharing your good news! |
| That’s amazing, OP! Congratulations!! |
| Yaaay OP! |
| Congratulations, OP!!! This is amazing news. Thank you for the update! |
| Wow! Yay! |
| This is amazing news! So glad everything is progressing well. |
| I had low hCG and made the mistake of reading this forum and went into depression (that’s not an exaggeration) because everyone said there zero chance of viability. HCG has a large range, I’ve learned. (Mine, at 14dpo, was 13, it doubled then stopped doubling - perfectly healthy girl). Congrats OP. I too hope others read this. |
