This is generally true, IMO. The caveat I would add is that MAGA won’t vote for him OVER TRUMP. If Trump were hit by a bus tomorrow, Hogan would be vastly more viable nationally. So he has to wait and likely his window, such as it is, will close. There are a large number of conservative candidates in this position: people who would have a shot against DeSantis, but no chance against Trump.

He wouldn't be a viable Republican candidate even if the former guy ascended into heaven tomorrow.

He is done, unless he runs for his community HOA. He needs to relax and enjoy his family, think about volunteering, playing golf. He will not be elected President because Democrats saw him support dumb Republican things, and the Republicans definitely won't vote for him because he condemned Trump.
