Finally, an old white wealthy male in the WH!!! Time to celebrate!!

He’s been a stud throughout. Top of the class at STA, summa cum laude from Duke, started a company, highly influential in 2 administrations with no signs of slowing down. He has a heck of a motor I’ll give him that

I think Zients was one of the few kids from the middle class when he was at STA. Also a Jewish kid when there were not many Jewish kids there. Everyone I know who knew him said he worked his rear end off and has worked hard all his days. He apparently always wanted to buy the Marriott’s house in DC when he was a kid and then grew up and did it. Those kinds of people should be applauded for entering government service. He could be pursuing more cash instead.

100% agree. He’s a superstar plain and simple, the more minds like his that we have in public sector the better. All too often the sharpest minds stick to private sector. But he’s already got the $$$, a PP said he was in Fortune’s richest 40 people under 40. He has hundreds of millions in the bank so hopefully he’s not another revolving door politician. I don’t know how active he’s stayed with STA though (on the other he seems to stay very involved with Duke).

I’m thinking he didn’t stay very active with STA. His daughter and 3 sons are all Maret grads and his wife served on the Board (and President) for 12 years there. Looks like all four kids followed in his footsteps: Columbia, Stanford, Northwestern and now have a charitable giving tech company.

He does seem impressive. He was original investor for Call Your Mother Deli!

Call Your Mother bagels are way overrated.

I’m sure you’re a NYer, but okay. I find their sandwiches delicious.

They’re the best and the closest thing to the Montreal style bagels we all love.

And overpriced.

But hey, that's the tried-and-true capitalist route to the WH.

He was multi millionaire way before investing in the deli.

OP you are naive/uniformed if you think that is the "second most powerful" job in DC.
Anonymous
No, naive to think he’s in it for public service. He’s in it for the money that will flow when he leaves after two short years.

His eldest son started at STA and it didn’t work out. It would have been different if he stayed as the other boys would have followed.

Are you kidding? He doesn’t need this job for money after. He was killing it. This is a financial waste of his time.

As Chief of Staff, Zients will be the Head of the Executive Office of the US and the highest member of the President's Cabinet. For people who don't care much about politics, it's the equivalent of being Hand of the King in Game of Thrones (i.e. Tyrion Lannister, smart and influential but not in the spotlight). It's awesome to see someone from St. Albans make it all the way to the top in such a crowded field!

So happy finally an STA person is being recognized for an administration besides Trump’s. Lots of Trump families at STA and several were in his admin.

Samantha Power and Cass Sunstein. Jim Sciutto is no right winger either. All parents.

I wonder why he went to St. Albans but his sister went to BCC. Were his parents more willing to invest in a boy?
