You are a frequent poster on this forum, so you should be well aware of the frequent posters on this forum for whom disparaging Montgomery County is a hobby, if not an avocation. |
How do you, anon poster, know who is a frequent poster? I think I know the answer but would love to hear. |
I'm the PP you're responding to. When there are many posts, on many threads, that all say the same thing in the same way, it's reasonable to assume that the posts are from the same poster. |

MoCo plans on raising taxes on the rich

| You are a statist who thinks you need to run other people’s lives . Every aspect |
| You used to live in Germany where only the brightest go to university . That’s not very lefty equity |
I am the poster you referred to as a “frequent poster.” While I have posted before about Montgomery County and MCPD, I am by no means the only poster. It seems I have good company on this site, and it appears there are others who share my opinion about the former council. We are not all one voice. I don’t see people posting negatively about county government just to be negative. I see legitimate frustration posted here. Some I agree with and some I don’t. |
They also have pretty serious restrictions on both immigration and citizenship which has resulted in a permanent Turkish non-citizen underclass. Again, very “liberal”. |
More frustrating than the half point raise, is the usual trope about "it's about they paid their fair share" and such. Also- property tax increases on home assessment is a de facto increase just about every single year, but that is just a given. |
The most likely scenario is that this bill dies in committee. But how dumb are these people? Maybe it’s not enough to make people leave but it’s certainly enough to make people think twice about relocating to MD instead a neighboring jurisdiction with a lower tax burden. Who would purposefully move somewhere that had the highest tax burden? DC currently has higher income but lower property taxes. VA has equivalent property tax but lower income tax. They want MD to have both the highest income and property taxes. Real smart. |
And also as more and more jobs are at least partially if not fully remote. |
I think it depends on the European country. And which part specifically is the WH more far left than Europe? |
The pronouns and trans stuff. The identity politics. The extremist "my body my choice" position which ignores the baby's body and reasonable compromises. The justification of violence during the blm/ antifa riots. The sympathy for regimes like Cuba or Venezuela. The vilification of math and merit as "racist." Cancel culture. The arrogance vs. blue collar workers and vs. "fly-over" states. And he can go on and on... (in Europe he's always voted for a socialdemocrat party) |
| Going back to your original point, while I don’t like the Montgomery county government, and did not vote for them, the majority of the county does, so you are not alone in your opinion. |
Fair point |
