The most likely scenario is that this bill dies in committee. But how dumb are these people? Maybe it’s not enough to make people leave but it’s certainly enough to make people think twice about relocating to MD instead a neighboring jurisdiction with a lower tax burden. Who would purposefully move somewhere that had the highest tax burden? DC currently has higher income but lower property taxes. VA has equivalent property tax but lower income tax. They want MD to have both the highest income and property taxes. Real smart. [/quote]
