sugar addiction - how to break it long term?

OP, sorry I don't have any advice to share (sugar is not my vice) but good for you for recognizing it and trying to do something about it. If you're not overweight, most people would overlook it.

Someone mentioned Glucose Revolution. This is an excellent t book and last spring I used the “hacks” to break some of my sugar habits. The author has a good IG also, Glucose Goddess, if you are on IG start with that.

I moved on to intermittent fasting (basically skipping breakfast) and going clean Keto (no fake sugar Keto processed junk) and feel much better.

Most of my sugar cravings are gone though I have had some rebounds.

I just got my labs done and was able to fully reverse diabetes that I had last year without drugs!!! Also despite eating mostly animal based diet, my other labs are better than last year including all of my cholesterol numbers, vitamin D and iron.

I am now fine tuning by wearing a CGM and incorporating longer fasts times with my cycle. I am using the methods in a new book, “Fast Like a Girl” that just came out last month, it’s been good.

Also, you mention ADHD as well. I also suffer from ADHD and most of my symptoms have resolved. There is a huge connection with metabolic health and mental health. Keto/Carnivore diets appear to be beneficial.

Good luck! You can do it!

Since starting intermittent fasting, I'm finding my thoughts about food and desire for the sugar rush has diminished greatly. I'm not sure why, but I'm thrilled.

I was, at one point, so addicted that I wouldn't have even wanted something to break the addiction lol. But I absolutely don't care about food as much, am losing weight, and choosing healthier options because it's what I WANT, so it is easy because I'm not feeling denied.

Same here. Very small breakfast. Very small luch. Then high calorie dinner of whatever sounds good. Interest in eating after the kids are in bed is finally gone. I also told my husband to stop ordering dessert whenever we ordered food delivery.
