At least for places I looked, preschool follows public school schedule, they have spring break, winter break, summer etc. Summer camp could be separate program but there usually are one week break in June after school ends and August before school starts. Preschool is usually 9-4 following school schedule with before and after care.

Daycare just opens all year around, except holidays (and weather closure), and they are usually 10 hours like 7-5 or 8-6.

I much prefer daycare so that I don't have to worry about so many breaks. But to each's own.

Yes, Many Family Child Care homes are Daycare Preschool too. Most providers are Preschool teachers with CDA

I started both of mine together at age 2 and 4 in 2021. Oldest only did 1 year, she's just fine and doing well in K besides some crying when she doesn't get her way. My other child is almost 4 now and he's a bit more social than she was at his age but otherwise pretty much the same developmentally. As long as they get 1 year of preschool I think it's fine. Also they only go 3 days per week full days.

This isn't daycare, it's preschool with built in aftercare btw.

Incorrect.

Many Family Child Care homes have preschool Teachers. Therefore it has preschool teachings so Family Daycares can be preschool too. Some Family daycares also teaches to age from 2-5 and prepares children for kindergarten. There's all kinds of Family Child Care homes.

I have worked in preschool centers and in Family Daycares and it's the same. Only difference is the centers having too many kids and not much staff. Not much individual attention for every kid.

This is what worked for our 3 kids:
DD1= FT nanny plus playgroup (with nanny) 5 days a week for 2-3 hours until 3. From 3-5 part time preschool and nanny in the afternoon. full time K at almost 6.

DD2= FT nanny plus playgroup (with nanny) 5 days a week for 2-3 hours until 3. Part time preschool 3-4 and nanny in the afternoon. FT preschool at 4.

DS = FT nanny but no playgroup because of Covid. Started part time preschool at 2.5 and still there at 3.5. Full day PK at 4.5 (next year).

I think my son had the hardest time starting school even though he has 2 siblings because was not exposed to other kids until 2.5 because of Covid. He is fine now, but the beginning was seem less with my older 2 because (I think) of their morning play groups and it was harder for my son.

The FT nanny was amazing though for the kids and for us.

Never. I see no benefits to daycare of you don't need to use it. Daycare serves it's purpose for the parent who needs childcare not for the child. It's rampant colds and viruses with underpaid uneducated staff. I did a nanny and preschool with my child.

My kid was home with me until he was over a year old, now he is almost 2 and his nanny makes sure he gets a lot of time with other kids. They’re almost never just hanging out at our house. Instead, they’re at the playground or the library or a recreation center near us, they go to story time, they go to a music class once a week. She coordinates with other nannies so he sees some of the same kids on a regular basis. YMMV depending on the nanny, but I definitely don’t worry about his socialization.

I've been to parks. Some days are nice but still lacks of activities and not always you can find kids with the same age to play with.
And kids still gets sick. Even more since they are outside most of the time.

And family daycares and centers kids get sick too. It's life.
You gotta expose them to germs. Or they will have a compromised immune system. I know a kid who never got out of the house and he's a wreck. Poor kid. I always blame the parents.

Our child went to a nice Family Daycare with preschool teachings. Our child was 5 months old.

And now he's thriving at school! We are so grateful to our Provider and Teacher. We love every one of our kids teachers, early educators, so grateful to have met good people💕

Yes, many Family Daycare Providers have CDA. Child Development Associate or more. There's even Providers who teaches pre k until kid goes to kindergarten. You just gotta do research.

Whatever you choose, your child will be loved from all the early educators, Family Daycare Providers, nannies, etc

PP. not sure where you live, but in my very walkable neighborhood in DC, there are always lots of kids/nannies at the playground on weekdays. Same at the other places she takes him. He interacts with kids a variety of ages. At his age it’s more about parallel play anyway.

Not sure what you’re talking about with regard to sickness? Yeah, my son still gets sick sometimes, but way less than kids who are in daycare. Also, it’s a myth that kids need to get sick a lot to build their immune systems.

Don't send kids to kindergarten 😂🤣🤣 if you are so scared about them getting sick.

Home school then, keep them forever and never to school, family daycare, center😂🤣
