I live in an over 55 community and don't find this to be true of my friends and acquaintances here. I think it's just the people you are hanging out with. Make some new friends, or just keep changing the subject.

I have two grandchildren and three great grandchildren and I rarely talk about them with others even though I love them and I'm proud of them. It's definitely not everybody doing this.
