Yes he does. Have you not been following the abuses by the church of Native American children in their care? He totally showed the brutality of it in the first episode. History is not pretty.

and I'm glad it's represented.

What you don't understand was that was a GRATUITOUS portrayal. No one benefitted from seeing that.

You have obviously never seen Roots.

Roots was so good. It was one of those things the whole country watched. We talked about it in school.

True - I remember it well. Can't help but think there are certain politicians today that would label it as "woke" and try to ban the viewing of it.

DH and I are up to the latest episode. I generally like the show. I tend to agree about the extreme violence towards the Native American girls. I understand that was a brutal time, but I do feel like it's over the top. I also watch Handmaids Tale and there's a reason we talk about the abuse becoming torture porn.

Anyway, glad to see Teonna escaped, and sad to know what the reality is for the future of her people.

I gotta admit that I feel like Jacob kind of started it with dismissing the sheep ranchers and telling them tough luck. But murder as a reaction isn't ok either.

I go back and forth between liking and hating Spencer's fiancee - Alexandra. Totally knew that boat captain was going to die. I think they live and make it to Montana in one piece.

I don't watch Yellowstone, so that may be a "duh" conclusion if you know the family line.

We're up to date as of today with the show, and I can't keep up with the family tree.

As for the boat captain, I thought Spencer and Alexandra would die in the boat crash (realistically, could anyone survive that?), and I didn't think Jack was strong enough to become the patriarch. But Spencer didn't die so I still don't know who will become the patriarch.

Anyone see the last episode? I am glad the story is moving along, but also, can they just stop with the pure evil Catholics and also hitting/beating of women for fun?

I liked Harrison Ford a lot in this episode. I like that his character is drawn as being pretty blinders on about the realities of political power. Also, Bronn/Banner is always good. Didn't appreciate Timothy Dalton turning into Joffrey though.

If the Native American storyline is just going to be violence I'd rather not have it, or take a minute at the beginning or the end to reference a specific historical event or two. It seems a little gratuitous to me.

Liked the Alex cliffhanger at the end. That could be amusing.

see, and I feel differently. I need to sit there and get uncomfortable. IT happened. He's not glossing over it.

Is there as much profanity as in Yellowstone? That was distracting to me.

The finale aired tonight. I have Paramount+ via prime and hasn’t realized what t came back. I’ve missed the last four episodes! Doh!

It lacked the consistency of Yellowstone and 1883, IMO.
The drama on the boat was cliche. The spankings scenes are ....weird.
The thrown together love story (happened in one episode) of Teonna and Pete lacks chemistry. (although the actress playing Teonna is sensational)

that said, I'm glad a second season is coming. The photography is excellent - from Africa to Montana.

The finale was unsatisfying. Nothing was resolved and there wasn't a big cliffhanger, just the same conflicts and struggles.

The Zane storyline was new or I missed it previously?

Alex and Spencer are interesting but also kind of annoying when most of their dialogue to each other is "I love you."

The spanking scenes: gratuitous nudity.

Teonna and Pete suddenly being in love did feel sudden, but it would be nice for her to have something go right for once. She's been through enough bad things.

I assume I will continue to watch, but it really got a bit tedious.

I hate gratuitous sexual violence. First time was bad enough, but to repeat it really felt unnecessary. We get it. Whitfield is bad, very bad. Banner may not be quite as bad.

The ship storyline this week was annoying and predictable.

Maybe Alexandra and Spencer are the parents of the next generation because Alexandra may explain Beth.

It seems like one season in two parts with the first part dragged out for no good reason -- not a show that really needed two seasons.

Same. And then it dragged on for no reason. The prostitutes certainly can't have some larger purpose in the story.

I tend to agree that it's tedious/drawn out a bit. I didn't mind the ship storyline, but that's partly because I'm finding the rest a bit boring.

So, was Alexandra the Countess of Sussex set to marry the Earl of Sussex? I'm turning over in my head how that happens.

I’m so glad they showed the church’s violence towards the native Americans. This Ian’s story that needs to be told. This brutality has been kept quiet and is a shameful past of American and Canadian history.

Good thing social media wasn’t around when Roots was broadcast or Denzel was whipped in Glory.

Our history is painful and doesn’t need sanitizing.

I’m currently watching and find Cara and Jacob Dutton kind of boring. I’m actually having trouble following what’s going on. I don’t even know the nephew’s name or any of the cowboys and I’m on Season 6. I much prefer watching Spencer and Alex. That’s really the only reason I’m watching. That and the Native American storyline.

Looking forward to a second season. Eager to see Spencer and Alex reunite. The duel on the boat was so crazy.

I had no idea Jennifer Ehle played the mean nun who abused Teonna. She played Elizabeth Bennett in the 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (my all time favorite!).
