how likely is this gonna turn into a full closure? Asking for a friend.

50/50.

It’s mid-Dec. the sun comes up late.

It’s the first ice event of the year so many new drivers (like HSers) haven’t had a chance to figure out black ice yet.

Subs are already as scarce as hens’ teeth. Many are elderly and won’t come out with ice or to work on a two hour delay because the kids are bonkers enough the week before winter break.

The roads are fine. Absurd to call it now, especially for virtual school.

This. My elementary wont start until 11:30!

So? Teenagers do not need to be at an icy bus stop or on icy roads at 6:45. Get some perspective

Drive them if you think its so unsafe.

The teachers wanted to sleep in.

Hilarious that you think Central Offices cares or even knows what teachers want. Rather than eating to sleep late, teachers probably are grateful for not driving in from PG, HoCo, or AACo during an ice storm.

The comment was about virtual school. Teachers don't drive anywhere. They go to their desk or where ever they work and log on. Teachers have no say in when school time starts. So, your comment makes no sense.

Why would they drive if they think driving is unsafe? LOL

No. They'll just close school if there's ice.

No, your comment makes no sense. Where did you reference virtual? Nowhere, just another opportunity to dump on teachers.

Teacher here. Don't close! I hate having days off when there's no snow to play in. Makes the whole making it up in June miserable! Remember we already had that day off due to the power outage.

Don’t virtual school teachers report to a MCPS location? I know one and she is not allowed to work from home. She said this was to ensure teachers didn’t experience internet issues or try to care for their own children while teaching.

Really? I just drive my husband to Shady Grove metro. It’s above freezing. Even Damascus will be above freezing by 8am.
