Dead on correct. You would have thought that reopening Newell Street was the biggest issue facing the council. It was a few loud people on twitter who wanted to congregate in Acorn Park. The actual residents (working people who dont tweet all day) actually wanted it reopened.

Or the amount of pixels yelling about Drag Queen story hour.

You can be all for LGBTQ rights, and still think this was getting more attention than say falling test scores in MCPS, or the sky rocketing crime rate.

Newell Street is probably the most embarrassing episode that I can imagine. It is easy to plot out a Parks and Rec eposiode lampooning these clowns. And yet, they are undeterred and unembarrassed. It’s wild.

The Newell street thing is actually exactly what a city council should be doing- taking a look at quality of life things like giving people more access to open areas. The fact that a few neighbors made a stink about having to drive an extra few blocks and won was what was embarrassing.

I havent seen a statement or even a tweet from any council members or council members elect about the shooting in Friendship Heights last night, or any other notable crimes we hear about. But plenty of spilled ink about Acorn Park street closures of all things. What a complete nonsense thing to even worry about for more than about 3 minutes.

the movie basically says Jews control everything.

Eric Luedkte takes an admin job in the Moore adminstration. Meaning his both his district 14 house seat, and the house majority leader positions will need to be filled.

Wonder if anyone on the council will get the tap for the delegate spot.

No, it sounds like the movie is about the policies of Israel's government, not about the Jewish people. Seems like people should be able to see the film and form their own opinions. --Jewish person

The people of color that lived in the adjacent buildings thought that the closed street negatively affected their quality of life. They had sent complaints about noise, vagrancy, etc which went unnoticed by the Council. A number of white people that did not live immediately adjacent wanted it closed as a political statement about cars which went noticed by the Council who then proceeded to get on and then quickly get off their soapboxes once they realized how ridiculous it was making them look.

Going from County Council to Assembly is a step down, not up. Just compare the salary.

Friedson was totally engaged on the Newell Street nonsense, which is outside his district. Has he said anything about a shooting or the rising crime in his district lately? Not a word. Meanwhile car thefts in Bethesda are skyrocketing.

But those people werent loud on twitter. They were just normal citizens who wanted to work, and live in peace so their opinion isnt as important as the moco twitterati.

Salary yes- but being a delegate isnt term limited, and you can parlay that into say state senate. A few on the council clearly have higher statewide ambitions...
