Holiday Gift ideas for rural old people?

I got my rural father a pickle subscription and he loves it. He looks forward to getting a pickle delivery each month and the pickles that he doesn’t like or are too spicy he gives away. UPS delivers it.

I send Omaha steaks, can’t go wrong with that unless they’re Vegan/Vegetarian.

How about Williams Sonoma frozen croissants, if you think they'd be up for baking them? https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/mini-croissants/?pkey=ccroissants-bread-pastries They could stash them in the freezer and just bake a few here and there.

Or dried fruit and nuts? https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/mf-dried-fruit-and-nut-gift-tower/?pkey=cfruits-nuts

I would lean toward these over something fresh that would have to be consumed quickly, or something heavy like full meals.

This too!

I’ll dissent here. People in rural areas have better beef than Omaha Steaks.

I've also given Japanese snack boxes with an assortment of candy, crackers, etc. If they're adventuresome, this is fun.

Where do you get the Japanese snack boxes? My family would love this!

This is the one I’ve gotten: https://www.bokksu.com/

Your mother is not an "old person" and in any case that's a rude term to use to describe people.

Reading comprehension fail. She’s going to visit her second husband’s parents. My guess is they are in their 70s or 80s.

I have ILs in rural Oregon. They LOVE to play cards. Maybe a set of different types of card games? Like Karma, Five Crowns, etc.

I'd stick with the food gift suggestions, except for H & D. We get a gift box every year and the foods just aren't that good. Maybe they were 30 years ago, but I prefer bosc pears from the grocery store to their special Oregon ones.
