Loved this book. I will read anything Atul Gawande writes.

This sounds silly given the nonfiction recommendations here, but Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It’s about a woman who makes a seemingly inconsequential decision and her life splits off into two very different scenarios (alternating chapters) based on what she does in that moment.

I think of it as philosophy disguised as contemporary fiction. I happened to read it several years ago before I made a big life decision that I was 50/50 on, and it gave me some peace.

Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child by Gottman and Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn. Unpacking my childhood raised by distant, authoritarian parents and realizing I could be different was incredibly freeing.

The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck.

First sentence: "Life is difficult." Such a simple truth that's not fully realized often until it's too late.
