| Bight reef in T&C Provo is an amazing reef that is right off the beach (you just walk in the water and it’s right there!). Saw amazing fish, barracuda, someone in the group even saw a reef shark! |
| +1 for St. John. There is snorkeling off every beach. |
Your what? |
+2 St. John is super family friendly and not as gross and touristy as St Thomas. Snorkling off every beach. Amazing clear water. Guaranteed sea turtle spotting in Maho Bay. Island is tiny so you can go to every beach in a week if you want to. |
Came here to say this. It's like another planet. A trip here is putting snorkeling at the center of your vacation. |
| NP here. For the Belize, Roatan, and St. John posters can you recommend where you stayed? Hotels or rentals? Do you need a car there? |
|
Not direct flights, but good options include:
Cozumel St Croix (cruise pier is easy safe snorkel, also Buck island) St John (Trunk Bay * Maho bay) Turks and Caicos has some reefs off the beach |
| We stayed on Kaanapali Beach in Hawaii (Maui) and the snorkeling there was the best I've experienced. Black Rock. |
Grande Bay resort, Westin or Sirenusa in St John. Rent a Jeep. |
| Another vote for St. Johns. I would do a chartered snorkel tour from a boat rather than snorkel off the beach. You will have a great time. |
We rented a small house in St. John and rented a Jeep. The terrain is very hilly and steep so whoever will be doing most of the driving should be prepared for that, you also drive in the opposite side of the road. When we were at the various beaches there was always a vehicle from the Westin dropping people off/picking people up, so if you’re at a resort you don’t absolutely need to rent a car. We stayed within walking distance of Cruz Bay and it was awesome to be able to walk to dinner or get drinks. It was a huge bonus for the kids too because they could swim in Cruz Bay and play while we relaxed with a Painkiller. |
wow you really missed out. There was way better spots in Maui than black rock. |
Tunnels Beach on the north side of Kauai was great. You can see lots in waist deep water even. It was better than the Great Barrier Reef (which I don't recommend due to bleaching). |
lol, right? More like Hawaii is for the UMC and Florida is for the middle class. Truly poor people are not planning these types of trips or scuba diving! |
| When’s the best time to go to Roaton? |
