Correct. He eats out/goes out a lot. |
| I have no idea. That’s between him and his bank account balance. |
| Mine is frugal. Gave him $200 when we dropped him off. Told us he still has $160 left. We planned to give him $100 for expenses, but no need so far. We pay for all college expenses but he has to use his own money (saved from jobs) for fun. |
| It's coming out of his own account from his summer job, so I'm not tracking closely, but I did look at the end of the first quarter of freshman year to check for red flag money management issues. $10 a day at dunkin donut. I told him to apply for a job there. |
| about $100/week. eating out, ubers, concessions at football games, occasional clothes & toiletries |

Parents are funny. When I was in college we had three drug dealers in Hallway.
Two are lawyers and one a Doctor now. Their parents had no clue and also thought they were frugal |
Where are kids getting this money? My kid wouldn't have anything close to $100/week from his savings. If it is from parents, when does that gravy train stop? |
Similar story here. School is in a small town, not much to do off campus. He doesn't drink and has an unlimited meal plan. I think the only times he's spent cash money in the past two months were buying Q-tips and getting a haircut. And he walked a couple of miles to the barber rather than Uber (which is linked to my credit card so it wouldn't have cost him a thing.) I feel like he's being too frugal but as he points out frequently, he's 18yo and living in another state, so he gets to make his own decisions. |
