If you could live for 6 months anywhere in south or Central America, where would it be and why?

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (I’d aim to go to a smaller village outside of PV)

San Carlos, Mexico is nice. The Sea of Cortez is pretty dreamy

+1 lake atiltlan

+2 came to say Lake Atitlan

My DH’s favorite place on the entire planet. Go and make him so jealous!

Really? How odd. I've been, and it's nice enough, but it's definitely not all that.

I mean……sometimes people like different things.

Medellin. Great weather all year round. A friend lives there and they offer incentives for digital nomads.

Puerto Rico? You wouldn't even need a visa if you're a US citizen.

Progreso, Yucatan seems very cute to me and would offer what you’re seeking

Great ideas in this thread.

Do you have any good friend in any such place/ has lived in one? I'd start there -- local knowledge and relationships will make your 6 months much better.

Great city -- but nowhere near the beach.

Or Northern Colombia - the beaches are gorgeous and there are some chill towns around Santa Marta (but l haven’t been in 10 years). I liked Taganga but look for recent info.

I love Bolivia too, but it’s landlocked.

I’ve spent 2 - 8 months each in Oaxaca, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Costa Rica.

Costa Rica would be my last choice, it’s great for vacation but not to live - you are a walking wallet to the locals because the tourism industry is so big there.

Northern Peru might work too.
